The idea behind MONDO Thursdays is a simple one – to celebrate Boston's vibrant music and food scenes.
Anngelle Wood (Boston Emissions 100.7 WZLX) and Doug Sherman (Superhoney/Gozu) team to bring area musicians together who wouldn't typically play with one another or in a room as unique as the legendary Plough and Stars while the Plough's resident chef Jim Seery (also drummer of TRiPLE THiCK) introduces special MONDO Thursdays Polynesian-inspired dishes. The Plough and Stars bar staff have fashioned Island-infused cocktails as part of the night's celebration.
MONDO Thursdays will happen on the third Thursday of each month.

Here’s a recap of happenings from the past few weeks.

Close Enough For Rock And Roll. By now it’s likely you know that Harper’s Ferry in Allston will close its doors at the end of October citing non-renewal of its lease. According to HarpersFerryBoston.com, the "400-capacity room is the size of an airplane hangar, and can be very depressing to play when it’s empty." It was reported this week that long-time Boston music promoter Don Law and associates plan to take over the 340-capacity space (that number is according to the Boston.com piece) in order to use it as “…a club that is a first step, and we think this would work so acts would then grow into the Paradise.” The Brighton Music Hall – though that is technically Allston – as its said to be called is expected to open in December. Stay tuned.
A Modern Log. The Sheila Divine is back with all-original line-up – Aaron Perrino, Jim Gilbert and drummer Shawn Sears. They began the comeback recording this month at Zippa Studios with Brian Charles funded by Kickstarter.com. To date the band has raised more than $13,000 donated by fans. As a gift of sorts, be part it and watch the writing and recording process live on the TSD Ustream. See them live Thanksgiving Eve, Weds, Nov 24 at Great Scott, Allston with The Hush Now and The Fatal Flaw.
Erin Go BRAH. Dropkick Murphys return for their now-annual St. Patrick’s Day gig series. Two House of Blues, Boston shows on Thurs, March 17 & Fri, March 18 and Sat, March 19 at Tsongas Arena in Lowell. Tickets for all show on-sale Sat, Oct 16 at 10am through www.livenation.com.Sound OFF. Allston’s Sound Museum location closed up shop leaving bands scrambling for rehearsal space. In. Congratulations to Tijuana Sweetheart for the addition of new guitarist Keri Medeiros. We can call her Keri until she is anointed with a proper TJS moniker. Keri will make her live debut in December.
Out. The Wrecking Coast is looking for a new guitar player. Interested parties can reach out via wreckingcoast(a)gmail.com. Current guitarist Pete Ferraro plays his last show with TWC on Sun, Oct 17 at 1pm at the Middle East upstairs, Cambridge.
Cheers. Boston’s RIBS scored the support slot for Helmet Weds, Oct 20 at the Middle East downstairs, Cambridge. The band appears on Boston Emissions with Anngelle Wood on Sun, Oct 17.
